My picks for top inspirational films for 2011

While I don't get to the movies much, in 2011 there were two films that I made an effort to watch.

The first film, Soul Surfer is truly one of the best inspirational movies I have ever seen and my first favorite pick for 2011.

Soul Surfer is about 13 year-old surfing champion Bethany Hamilton who gets attacked by a shark and loses her left arm. The film shows how Bethany and her family maintain their faith in God during the difficult times with Bethany trying to re-learn how to do everything with only one arm - including how to surf.

For anyone going through a difficult trial or time in their life, I would encourage you to watch Soul Surfer. You will need a box of Kleenex when watching this film. Soul Surfer contains an all star cast, including Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood, Kevin Sorbo and AnnaSophia Robb who played the role of Bethany Hamilton.

My second favorite pick for 2011 is Courageous, which is the fourth installment from Sherwood Baptist Church out of Albany, GA.

Four men who are police officers, with only one calling: To serve and protect. When tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers suddenly are faced with more questions than answers and no where else to turn, but to Jesus. From there struggles comes choices that will change their lives and how they are as fathers. Yes, this film is targeted towards fathers, but if you are not a father, don't think this movie won't inspire or touch you in a special way. Be prepared to laugh, cry and cheer. Kleenex required.
